Dr. BobbieJean Sweitzer is dual boarded in anesthesiology and internal medicine. She is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Systems Director of Preoperative Medicine at Inova in Falls Church Virginia.
Dr. Sweitzer is an author and the editor of Preoperative Assessment and Management (3rd edition in publication). Dr. Sweitzer has authored over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and lectures nationally and internationally on ambulatory anesthesia and perioperative medicine topics. Dr. Sweitzer is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, SAMBA, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. She is a founding member of the Governing Board and past President of the Society of Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement, and an elected member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists. She is on the editorial board of Anesthesiology and host of a monthly podcast for the journal, on the editorial board of Anesthesia and Analgesia and Executive Editor of A&A Practice.
