Mentorship
SAMBA board members have extensive professional and leadership experience that can help foster the development and growth of others members both in academic and private practice. They very willingly mentor their junior colleagues. In addition to advice and guidance, they offer practical tools such as membership to committees, letters of recommendations, opportunities to participate as faculty in workshops, PBLD’s, webinars, discussions and poster presentations at annual meetings. These opportunities help towards the achievement of both short and long-term goals of our members.
Video Library
SAMBA is developing a video library for members that includes content produced by experts in the field of ambulatory, office-based, or non-operating room anesthesia.
Discounted IARS Membership
As a SAMBA member, you are eligible to receive a discount on an IARS membership. IARS membership benefits include a subscription to Anesthesia & Analgesia, SAMBA’s official journal, A&A Practice e-journal, free journal CME, and discounted registration to the IARS Annual Meeting.
Category 1 Membership
Membership which confers the right to vote, hold office and serve on committees. All memberships in this category require that the member possess a degree of Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, Bachelor of Medicine or an equivalent degree. Additionally, members in these categories must have completed a residency training program in anesthesia accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association, or the equivalent of such accrediting bodies of other countries.
Active Member
Active members are persons who concurrently maintain a membership in good standing in the American Society of Anesthesiology and actively practice medicine.
Active Member Rates:
1 Year Membership – $299 now thru 2023
2 Year Membership – $562 now thru 2024
3 Year Membership – $825 now thru 2025
Associate Member
Associate members are persons who do not maintain a membership in the American Society of Anesthesiology and actively practice medicine.
Affiliate Member Rates:
1 Year Membership – $299 now thru 2023
2 Year Membership – $562 now thru 2024
3 Year Membership – $825 now thru 2025
Emeritus Member
Past-Presidents of the Society are automatically conferred an Emeritus membership. Category 1 members who have remained in good standing for at least ten (10) years and have attained the age of seventy (70) may be nominated for Emeritus membership by a Member of the Board of Directors. The Emeritus Membership status requires approval by three-fourths (¾) affirmative vote of the Board of Directors.
Category 2 Membership
Membership which confers the right to serve on committees, but which do not have the right to vote or hold office.
Affiliate Membership
Affiliate memberships may be granted to persons who have an interest in ambulatory anesthesia care but do not otherwise meet the requirements for category 1 membership.
Affiliate Member Rates:
1 Year Membership – $299 now thru 2023
2 Year Membership – $562 now thru 2024
3 Year Membership – $825 now thru 2025
Trainee Member
Trainee membership may be granted to persons who are currently training in an approved residency or fellowship in the specialty of anesthesiology. No member may be classified as a trainee member for more than a total of five (5) years.
Trainee Member Rates:
$25 (one year membership)
$50 (two year membership)
$75 (three year membership)
Medical Student Member
Medical Student membership may be granted to persons who are currently engaged in a full-time course of study leading to qualification as a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent.
Medical Student Member Rates:
$25 (one year membership)
$50 (two year membership)
$75 (three year membership)
International Membership
International memberships may be granted to persons who primarily work and live outside of the United States of America and its territories.
International Member Rates:
1 Year Membership – $75 now thru 2022
2 Year Membership – $150 now thru 2023
3 Year Membership – $225 now thru 2024
Category 3 Membership
Memberships which do not confer the right to vote, hold office or serve on committees.
Retired Member
Retired membership may be granted to persons who are retired from professional practice. Retired membership shall terminate upon resumption of professional practice. Retired members will not be assessed membership dues.
Honorary Membership
Honorary membership may be granted to persons who have attained exceptional eminence in anesthesiology or related fields, or who have made a significant contribution to anesthesiology. Honorary membership requires approval by three-fourths (¾) affirmative vote of the Board of Directors. Honorary members shall not be assessed dues.
